Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of SurveyStack, the research automation platform for land surveying professionals at surveystack.app. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

The service

SurveyStack automates the research phase of land surveying: it gathers property records from government sources, extracts boundary information using AI, and produces research deliverables such as course tables, staking plots, and CAD files. Depending on your plan, the service may also include document storage and CRM features.

Professional responsibility

SurveyStack is a research aid, not a survey. Its outputs are preparatory materials generated from public records and AI analysis, and they may contain errors, omissions, or discrepancies originating in the source documents or in their interpretation. All outputs must be reviewed and verified by a licensed professional before any field or legal use. Responsibility for the accuracy of any survey, plat, or boundary determination remains with the licensed surveyor of record. SurveyStack does not provide surveying, engineering, legal, or title services.

Accounts

You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your credentials secure. Accounts are for your firm’s use; you may not share access with third parties or resell the service.

Subscriptions and billing

The service is billed as a monthly subscription through Stripe, in advance. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law. We may change pricing with notice before your next billing cycle.

Your data and our outputs

You retain ownership of the documents you upload and the customer records you store or connect, and you grant us the limited rights needed to process them to provide the service. SurveyStack owns the outputs the service generates, including research deliverables, extracted data, and reports. We grant you a perpetual, irrevocable license to use the deliverables generated for your jobs for any lawful business purpose, including incorporating them into your own survey work and providing them to your clients; this license survives cancellation. You may not resell or redistribute the service’s outputs or underlying data as a standalone product or data service. Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

• Use the service only for lawful purposes and legitimate research.
• Do not attempt to probe, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the service.
• Do not use automated means to extract data from the service outside the features we provide.

Third-party sources

The service depends on government and third-party data sources that we do not control. Their availability, formats, and content can change without notice, and we do not guarantee that any particular document or record can be retrieved.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SurveyStack will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these terms, with notice where practicable. Upon termination you may export your files; our retention practices are described in the Privacy Policy.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaii, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Hawaii.

Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we will update this page and revise the date above. Continued use of the service after a change means the updated terms apply.
